On Sunday, December 21, we invite you to experience a mindful journey — a yoga workshop dedicated to the practice of 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) in honor of the Winter Solstice, the moment when the night reaches its greatest length and the light begins to return. It is a symbolic time of renewal, introspection, and hope, inviting us to look inward, release what no longer serves us, and create space for a new chapter.
This practice, deeply rooted in the yogic tradition of India, is much more than a physical challenge — it is a ritual of purification, intention, and spiritual connection. In Hindu philosophy, the number 108 is sacred: it represents the wholeness of the universe, the union between the individual and the cosmic. It is the number of beads in a mala, the number of sacred Upanishads, and a symbol of the integration of body, mind, and spirit.
By performing the 108 Sun Salutations, we honor solar energy — a symbol of consciousness, vitality, and transformation — igniting our own inner light at the darkest moment of the year. The Winter Solstice marks a turning point, the rebirth of light: a perfect time to plant a new intention (Sankalpa), let go of what we no longer need, and reconnect with our inner strength.
